Train overview window en.png

For beginners who have not yet mastered the art of timetable reading, or are only interested in a quick session, there is the Train Overview which is a summary of the expected trains, and the current trains in the yard. Train types, speed, location, platform stops, destination, etc, are available here.

Remember that this window is a bit of a cheat; historically, dispatchers in did not have this sort of detailed information about their trains. If you want the simulation to be as real as possible, keep the Train Overview closed. You might find that it’s harder than you think!

The upper portion of the window contains trains that have not yet arrived in your area of responsibility, but are expected in the near future. If the train is expected in about 5 minutes or so, then the entry becomes yellow. If, for some reason, the train cannot be sent to you, then it is shown in red.

Upcoming trains

Each entry in the upcoming trains section (upper portion) of the window has the following information:

  • The Time the train is scheduled to arrive
  • Train ID of train as recorded in the timetable
  • The Type of train it is
  • Whether the train requires catenary (indicated by the yellow lightning bolt)
  • The location From which the train has come
  • Time Status – ‘on time’ if no delays, or ‘+N’ where N is number of minutes late
  • Estimated Time of Arrival – the actual expected time, taking into account any delay

Meaning of background colors:

  • inline : Train will arrive in the dispatching area within 5 minutes.
  • inline : Trains is delayed.

Current trains

Each entry in the current trains section (lower portion) of the window has the following information:

  • Coloured icon (see below)
  • Train ID (see note about Line Operations)
  • The Type of train it is
  • Whether the train requires catenary (indicated by the yellow lightning bolt)
  • The current location of the train (block sections are in parentheses)
  • Direction of the train, often combined with a status text (see below)
  • The intended Destination of the train (*** is used to indicate no specific destination )
  • The train’s next platform stop ( ‐‐ is used to indicate no next stop)
  • Train’s delay, with respect to the timetable, in minutes

Meaning of background colors:

  • inline (blinking) : Less then 1 minute before departure, but next signal is showing stop aspect.
  • inline (blinking) : The departure time is has been reached, but next signal is showing stop aspect.
  • inline (blinking): The departure time has been exceeded with 2 minutes, and the next signal shows stop.
  • inline (steady) : The train is 10 to 30 minutes late.
  • inline (steady) : The train is more than 30 minutes late.

For you convenience, the bottom portion of the window can be sorted by clicking on a column header. Clicking again will reverse the sort order.

Line Operations

When in Line Operations, and a train is not in your interlocking area (and thus, not in your area of control) the train ID is shown using round brackets, like so: (4711)

This indicates that while the train is visible on the panel it is already outside your area of control.

Train Overview Icons

In the current trains section, coloured icons indicate useful information about the train.

Driver status incident.png Train has a driver but for some reason, cannot move
